I am an Avid reader. I'm guessing "Jon Athan" is an anonymous Author name. "Jonathan". I review books on Instagram. If you want to read my review on this book go to #nikreviewI'm sorry to say this book just wasn't good. The characters are vapid, the storyline is rushed, it's just about amateurish torture. It didn't read like a Jack Ketchum or J.F. Gonzalez or Kealan Patrick Burke...there wasn't a Story. It just was brief introduction to characters and then it jumps right to Silly torture. This book has/had A Lot of potential...but the Author didn't rushed it. If I could get my money back I would. I have Never wanted to return a book. I might just give it away. I'm sorry Jon, but you wanted honest feedback. I'm not Trying to be rude. I think you are Just beginning, though I know you have other books, and I admire the Craft of being an Author. I think you need an Editor. Good Luck with All You Do

The Abuse of Ashley Collins edition by Jon Athan Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I was curious to see what the book was about after reading the description and reviews. Two parents decide to basically torture their teenage daughter to make her behave. In the end all of the main characters are evil and most are dead.
while a few " lessons are like the girl next door from Jack Ketchum, this story is all on its own, how could a parent do this to their child, i have just discoverd this jewel of an author and i am reading everything i can get, if you like the horrors of what a human being can inflict, read thhis guy
I really liked this book. It was really aweful what her parents do to her but in it all she tells the story of what happened to her and why she is the way she is. Some of the actions seem extreme but I've never had anything like this happen to me so who knows what would be considered extreme and what is appropriate. It's a great read.
This is a dark, horrifying novel of abuse. I wasn't prepared for the deep violence. It was very disturbing. With that said, it is a story worth hearing for a number of reasons. Abuse is a horrible thing.
The only thing that's more disturbing in this book is the writing. The author needs more discipline. Obviously, he has no idea what horror and torment is. At least there's some absurdities that will distract us from the horror bits.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story, and I was highly disturbed and horrified at the sadistic acts of abuse, torture and sadism, which Mr. Athan described in such intense and horrific detail (this is a good thing! I think anyone who has purchased or will purchase this book in the future buys a book like this expecting to be disturbed, sickened and haunted by the tale). That aspect of the novel was very effectively written.
I just would like to offer some constructive criticism if I may. This is in no way intended to impugn Mr. Athan's hard work on his stories and novels, but I had a very difficult time overlooking the grammar, and sort of (for lack of a better word)...adolescent writing style. As an aspiring writer myself, I understand completely that not every book needs to read like "War and Peace" in terms of writing style, particularly a book like this where a quick pace is needed to keep the reader engaged. The advice I would offer is for the author to spend a little more time on sentence structure, word choice, and overall grammar mainly because these things can be (and were) an enormous distraction while reading this book, and unfortunately made the horrific events depicted in this novel at times seem a bit silly and again, slightly adolescent.
This is the first book I've read by Jon Athan, so I don't yet have any other points of reference to go by with his writing style, but I would really recommend spending more time not only on the technical writing aspect, but also on character development.
So, I give this book a solid 3 stars. I think Mr. Athan accomplished exactly what he set out to do in writing this book, and I hope there's a sequel in the works.
Jon, I hope I haven't insulted you in any way; I just wanted to give you some brutally honest feedback as a reader. If you have any response to this review, I'd be honored to discuss some ideas and suggestions I have (I know that's ridiculously pretentious of me). But I'm definitely going to purchase some more of your books in the future.
Cheers!!!!
I found this book an interesting read because it is both horrific and almost laughably ridiculous. Logically, I know that this tragic type of abuse does occur. That said, many of the scenes are totally illogical. Examples 1) How do you "grab a handful of hair" when most of it has already been shaved off? 2) How do you remain conscious if your genitals are being directly burned with a lighter (and then cross your legs soon after)? 3) How do you take a "deep breath" through your nose after its been broken? 4) How would a petite 16-year-old girl manage to put her muscular, unconscious father into a kitchen chair and tie him down by herself? I found myself cringing one moment and laughing the next. At the end of the book the author asks if he has gone too far. Yes. Even fiction shouldn't be this unbelievable.
